Chihuahuas-Bloodlines ~ Blog

JacquiBeth@Johnson, bred for brilliant colors and markings, so when someone acquired an  Chihuahua-Bloodlines-Anikas , it was a real eye catcher, not the plain washed out fawn look I see almost in every plain Chihuahua. I also got alot of rich mahoghany color fawns and butterscotch blondes(dilute fawn), and my Champion Gi Gi was a beauitful honey cream blonde with an almost rabbit-like textured soft plush short coat.(In comparison to this type of coat have seen wire coats). Most Anika's-Chihuahuas had a very light undercoat. They were not much on shedding. A few had  a sparse coat but rarely as this would not be shown. My Blue Chihuahuas were a very deep indigo Some Anikas faded from blue at birth to Lilac shades, as for example my lovely Madison. A wonderful combination is Lilac with the Irish spotted flashy marked colors. When you search the web for our Chihuahuas plus the word "results" + show, you get many dog show records on Anika-s-Chihuahuas Bloodlines and you will see that the dogs with "Matrix" or "Tazmaninan" behind them  appear very very flashy in color, that is well marked with definition and very evenly.On a teacup-sized dog this is strikingly beautiful...... I didn't have  visible merles in my line but I always wondered if the Featherston bloodlines had it(1970's) because there was a white merle like spotting on my white tri colored bitch and I had mixed eye colors on some of the  dogs that were blue from these lines... I have since been told this is not a merle. Personally, I have no opinion on MERLES. Some of them pretty nice looking, but I do not care what other people do. I am not here to control other people...I do care about what I do. I do care about my bloodlines and what they offer future dog breedings. If it is any comfort to fellow breeders who particularly hate the merle marking pattern, my own personal Chihuahua-Bloodlines do NOT have any merles in their pedigree that were not there before the recent  surge of merle breedings. Merles are a marking pattern not a color. Now back to my Tri's.....
My Blue-Tri-colored Chihuahuas, were indeed, one of my very favorites.....one in one of the first litters I ever had from my beautiful Ch-Anika's-Sassy-Cha-Cha-Cha-, her son was nick-named "First Buttons".

JacquiBeth@Johnson founded the Anika's-Chihuahuas-Bloodlines, which were a very prominent Chihuahua Bloodline of the tiniest purebred Chihuahua Dogs, often affectionately called "teacups" in the last century for a long period, founded well over twenty years ago. The foundation of this Anikas-Chihuahua-Bloodlines was built from Champion-Anika's-Wee-Sweet-Giselle, a beautiful yellow cream fawn short-coat-Chihuahua, who is now a great great great grandmother of many a line-bred Anikas-Chihuahua.  For example Lily's Ped is one of the many.

Champion-Anika-s-Wee-Sweet-Giselle was bred by Frances Bouyea,Chanson Chihuahuas of Texas.  Mrs. Bouyea acquired the outstanding English (UK)bloodlines behind Ch. Gi-Gi, was the grand dam to three champion sires and a pointed female grand daughter, thus garnering champ Gi Gi a place holding in the top producers of champions categories for her times: see Chihuahua-Champions 1984-2004.

Chihuahua Bloodlines such as Parquin's, Fitt-Savage, Dolandi, etc. can be found in the pedigree of ch-anika's-wee-sweet-giselle, these bloodlines were imported from Fitts-Savage, by Winn-Cotton, another Texas-Chihuahua-Breeder, in the early eighties. Another Chihuahua Breeder from Texas the H and J kennels and the ARTMAR and Handwerk Chihuahua Bloodlines were added to the mix. One of the first litters produced Ch.-Anika's-Blue-Rythmn-N'-Bounce, a gorgeous breed winner and blue-tri-long-coat-Chihuahua stud.

There have been many more Chihuahua descendents of ch-anika's-wee-sweet-giselle that have become top winners in dog shows, but aside from conformation, what was so perfect about champion gi gi was her even temperment, she had a very sound mind and body, accompanied  by very perfect tiny size and health. The bloodlines have  remained consistent as shown by the conformation of her great great great grand daughter, Madison. So true to form and fashion, Madison is a replica of champion Gi Gi, except for Chihuahua coat variety with a touch of  blue-fawn-or-lilac-colored Chihauhuas added for  good  measure.

It is an honor, a privaledge and a duty to discuss the bloodline breeding done at Anikas Chihuahuas for the past two decades, and especially to give credit to those breeders before me who really did care to make a sound body and mind, and give me the foundation to be the very best dog breeder I could be. So many newbies and commercial breeder are in the breed for such a a sprint, to the finish line to sell dogs. The websites are primarily warning everybody with the intent to convince you they are honest. Remember one thing, the Anika's Chihuahuas Bloodlines was" country before country was cool ", before the Taco Bell Chihuahua craze that sent the public reeling for large ugly Chihuahuas, there were the priceless Teacup-sized Chihuahuas, assimilated from the dogs of the very same breed standard as is in the UK. These were the smaller type of Chihuahua which is so famous in many anikas-champion-chihuahuas.

The Anikaa-Chihuahuas-Bloodlines thus had a long-standing legacy that would sustain a wonderful, healthy family of Chihuahuas that would blend wonderfully with the H-and-J-Chihuahua lines of Texas, acquired by jacquibeth@johnson in the late eighties. Who knew a love affair with the Chihuahua-Breed was to be born....
